    What is a sentence fragment?

A fragment is a sentence that is missing a clause or is an incomplete thought.

This error makes your piece harder to follow and less fluid.

One solution to this grammatical error is to add another clause in the sentence.

If there are two fragments that should be one sentence, take out the period and put the two together.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    RAP:

Fragments are sentences that don't make sense.

You shouldn't’t use them so you don’t sound dense.

Sentences should have independent and dependent clauses

You need correct punctuation to emphasize pauses.

    (Chorus)

    F-R-A-G-M-E-N-T-S

You need to get rid of them, we must confess.

Use less periods, and stay connected.

Otherwise your papers will end up rejected.

If you follow these simple rules,

    Your sentences will flow

Good grammar in English is important, you know?

Here are some examples of sentences that are whacked.

Yeah, that’s what’s up.  We’ll get these sentences on track.

    (Chorus)

    F-R-A-G-M-E-N-T-S

You need to get rid of them, we must confess.

Use less periods, and stay connected.

Otherwise your papers will end up rejected.

I ran to mall.  After the grocery store.

Take out the period.  Now give me some more!

There are many sports.  Such as basketball and soccer.

Put a comma after sports, take the book out of your locker.

The girl in the red dress.  Ran down the street.

Put a comma after dress, and now lay down the beat.

    (Chorus)

    F-R-A-G-M-E-N-T-S

You need to get rid of them, we must confess.

Use less periods, and stay connected.

Otherwise your papers will end up rejected.

    How are?

    How am I, what?

    You doing?

    It’s one sentence, you nut.

You need to realize when you mess up that way.

You’ll sound like an idiot and that ain’t okay!

    (Chorus)

    F-R-A-G-M-E-N-T-S

You need to get rid of them, we must confess.

Use less periods, and stay connected.

Otherwise your papers will end up rejected.

Incomplete sentences that need to be fixed

Listen to our rap, now here goes the remix.

You’ll ace your English class and sound really smart.

Your IQ will get higher, your grades off the chart!

    (Chorus)

    F-R-A-G-M-E-N-T-S

You need to get rid of them, we must confess.

Use less periods, and stay connected.

Otherwise your papers will end up rejected.

    Hope you learned something :)
